Sweeping America subscriber responses to the question “Who am I?”

I am a sweeper in who is 43 years old, been sweeping for 10 years, works full time as a special education office technician in Los Angeles, CA. You are so very right, we are the real Consumers.

I am a 43 year old married father of three who works as a physician in Massachusetts. I enjoy metal detecting, movies, and have been sweepstaking for about 10 years.

After 50 weeks of unemployment and sending over 120 applications for a job, I finally found the perfect position as a technical writer for a medical equipment manufacturer. I do miss my Poodles, though, and the time I had to work on my genealogy project.      Gardening is going to be a weekend-only prospect from now on, too. On my commute, I'll be able to catch up on my reading - mostly detective novels.

I'm a 43-year-old newspaper editor working in Biloxi, Miss. I've been in  newspapers all my life, and my paper won the Pulitzer Prize a few years  back for our Hurricane Katrina coverage.  I'm married to a girl I met at LSU when we both went to school there in the 1980s.  No kids right now, but two dogs we adore.  She's a big New Orleans Saints fan. I root for the Dallas Cowboys and  the Cincinnati Reds.

I am a Merchandiser that works in many businesses. This means I have lots of opportunity to see a lot of new things, in basic stores in my area. I work part-time and I am always on the move if I'm not at my computer logged into the net. My vacations are usually camping. But I usually can get my hubby to collect my e-mail somewhere.  (even if we are in the middle of nowhere) I am not a retiree yet. And my kids have left the nest.

I have been entering sweeps for over 50 years and loving it every
year.......have won so many wonderful prizes and trips.......I love ceramics, which I do twice a week, I am a retired Administrative Assistant......used to be called Executive Secy.........am a swimmer....used to Bowl...editor of the local Woman's Club Newsletter......print, run off and mail to all our great members....grandmother of 7 and one great.....love to travel and "hit" the casinos with the seniors......love to read.......often times I think how did I have time to work and raise 4 children born in five years?....diapers no huggies... I do thank the sponsors for my wins and use their products...........keeping busy has always been my creed.

I am a grandmother to a very busy 6 year old grandson who loves Toys R Us, PlayDoh, and swinging on playground equipment. I am married to my first husband (we married young, divorced after one year, I married a couple other guys, divorced them, re-met #1 by chance 27 years later, and we have nearly 11 years under our belt this time), work full time and am always looking for products that save me time and money. I use coupons when shopping for national brands. Our household drinks Coors Light, Dr. Pepper, Coke and Minute Maid. We are huge NASCAR, NFL, and NBL followers even though our state does not offer any tracks, teams and few promotions for them. We travel by air, around the country, a
couple times a year on vacation. We have managed to travel out of
country for the past few years, enjoying different cultures...however, no place compares to the USA! I ride a Harley, devour books by the dozens every month, am known for my baking and beanless chili, I know lots of blue jokes and have a song for just about every situation.  Even though I turned 55 this year, I wonder where the last 20 went because I sure don't feel like 55!

I am 53 and live in a small town in SC. My husband and I have been married 32 years and have 1 daughter who is now married but no Grandkids. We have a blue and gold macaw, african grey parrot and 2 quaker conures. We love traveling. We both work at Michelin Tire in Lexington SC.

I am a 24 year old female who works as a production coordinator at an entertainment promotions company in Los Angeles, CA. I am a huge football fan, both college and NFL, and I hope to travel to at least 10 other countries in the next 3 years.

I started sweeping on a whim while my husband was working out of town for six months in 2007. I am an attorney who has been in practice for about 30 years now and have a practice that emphasizes Bankruptcy. I have two daughters in college and my other primary interests are genetic genealogy and theatre.
I was hoping that sweeping would give me an opportunity to travel more as the family income is devoted almost exclusively to tuition. So far we have won three really nice trips. We got to take the girls to "Space Camp" in Florida and although they rolled their eyes they loved Florida and my husband was in heaven at space camp with real astronauts. It felt so good to enjoy the trip without any guilt about the costs. Most of what I win comes from snail mail although I also have won from the 500 dailies I do online.
I am absolutely amazed by what can be won and the fun of irrational hope is so very worth it to me. Every day I get maybe thirty ten-second daydreams of going to Peru, a Hollywood premiere or on a cruise with my family. I'm happy with the small things that show up out of no where-- hand lotions, a golf grip and the 52 coupons for egg whites (donated to a local food pantry that said they were perfect for clients with dietary restrictions).
It's a fun hobby. We have normal buying habits and I have purchased things I swept for and didn't win just because I was interested in the item.

I'm 64, divorced forever (30 years) two grown kids, 2 grandchildren. I live in Southern California. I work in a very busy Ophthalmology office as the surgery coordinator. I think the medical field is one of the only areas where the economy hasn't hit us hard. We are crazy busy. I work for two MDs that are the same ages as my kids-kind of weird sometimes. I just recently bought a convertible (new Toyota Solara), it was on my bucket list. I take a trip with my (married) daughter every year, this past year we went on a cruise to Bermuda out of New York. We've made some great memories.

I'm a 49 year old Building Manager of a 107,000 sq. ft. government
condominium office building. I work 40+ hours per week, and commute 35 minutes via public transit. I have 3 kids in all age groups, 21, 9, & 2.  I've been married for 11+ years, (my second time's the charm). I've had Crohn's disease since the age of 11, that is currently under control with medication.  We eat out often, see movies, enjoy traveling and being artistically
creative. We are involved in, the Lions Club, Girl Scouts, Gymnastics & Tennis. We are an especially talented family and probably have more "discretionary" income than some. I spend a lot of time on the internet and find that it enriches my life with information. Our family tries to find value and quality in every purchase.  We are very active consumers, and I have the garage and office that need cleaning to prove it!

I am NOT retired. I am NOT a homemaker. Well I do that too. I have been in the commercial real estate field for 20 years. Now in retail. I have four sons, two grown and married. Five grand kids. And two sons almost grown still at home.
Two sons still at home are adopted had them since babies. One has learning disabilities from a birth brain injury. I am 52, been married 28 years.
My group CONSUMES everything in sight. I buy toys, cars, clothes in every size they make. Buy every kind of fuel, food and product that is made. My office is at home so I have all those PRODUCTS I use. I love flowers inside and out.
I work with special needs kids projects and groups. We have five cars, a jet ski, motorcycle. And are always wishing for more toys.

Harvard Law School graduate, law professor, author of three law books (6,if you count 2d and 3d editions), financial planner and tax consultant, military veteran, married 49 years and avid consumer.

I'm a 50 year-old, wife and mother of one (and thankfully, on her own) in early retirement. (snicker, snort) I'm an only child, too. Moved two years ago from the mid-west and live next door to my senior parents. Much of my time is devoted to them, catering for a devoted husband who works long second-shift hours, caring for the backyard wildlife that brings a smile to my face, and make time to scream and holler with the best of the grannies while watching WWE Monday night Raw and WWE Friday night SmackDown. No grass growing under these feet (I'd hardly consider that retired.) Yes, I'm southern born, southern bred, and as happy as a frog on a lily pad. I’m in Eastabuchie, MS, Pop. 75, with one hometown convenient store & grill (where smoking is, well, overlooked), Post Office, Dollar General Store, two bars and no traffic light . . . Salute!!!!

I'm a 57 yr old mother of 2 sons (30 & 32 yrs old) and grandmother of Ashton (7) and Kanyon (2). I am a manager at FedEx where I have worked for almost 27 years. However, I just told my boss last week that I'm retiring December 31st. We have to work until age 60 to draw full retirement, but my husband has been retired (from FedEx) for two years so I'm ready to retire too. We love to travel and hope to travel more once I'm retired. I've been a volunteer for 16 years with the Make-A-Wish Foundation so I'll have more time to devote to volunteering once I'm retired also. I live in Collierville, TN.

I am a retired math teacher, mostly grades 7 through 9. I loved teaching. I also ran a math lab for 5 years for grades K-8 for hands-on measurement activities. And I also mentored student teachers for three years, one of my favorite jobs. I am a consumer who is loyal to the products of sponsors from whom I've won items, trips, cash.
My husband (who enters online sweepstakes) is a retired electrical contractor who owned his own business for more than 25 years, specializing in troubleshooting electrical problems in mobile homes. He now does most of our grocery shopping in addition to buying hardware and other items for his projects so he is definitely a consumer.

I am a 42 year old, happily married to my wonderful spouse, Mark, he cooks, cleans and loves to enter contests, what more could I ask for :) we have no children. I do have a wonderful niece, Emma, who will be 11 this December and we are very close.

I also have 13 other nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. I am a full time bookkeeper for a Nursery/Landscaping/Garden Center called Rosedale Nurseries and most days I love my job and I also love to garden. I have a beautiful view of the Saw Mill River from my desk at work and I am lucky I get to enjoy the beautiful landscaping and many animals that enjoy the river (ducks, geese, muskrats, birds, chipmunks, squirrels, I have even witnessed a fox run by).

I live close enough to NYC to enjoy the wonderful things it offers, but far enough away (1 hour drive or train ride, north) to enjoy the nature and wildlife. I love to do good deeds and I really enjoy seeing people happy. I love to have fun and try to make life as fun and funny as possible and try not to take anything or anyone too seriously. I follow Abraham-Hicks, Wayne Dyer and Deepak Chopra and love quotes (I always enjoy the ones you include in SA, thank you!) and anything positive that makes me feel good. I was raised as a Methodist, but my chosen religion now is (the same as Abraham Lincoln, who's quote I will borrow) "If I do good, I feel good and if I do bad, then I feel bad."

We had a very cool Tiki lounge, but we just took it apart and remodeled the room as we are thinking of selling our Condo to move into a house, and a tiki lounge instead of a bedroom is not what most people are looking for, but hopefully if we can find the right house we will re-build the Tiki lounge. We also just remodeled our bathroom and replaced all the windows. I love to travel (and thanks to sweeping, I have been very lucky to see many amazing places in this world and get married in Hawaii), go to museums, enjoy broadway shows and learn anything new. I have many different friends with many different interests and the ages range from young to old.

We had a terrible tragedy in my family in 2002, my Aunt and Uncle were murdered on Thanksgiving Day by a paranoid Schizophrenic who was visiting his Aunt and Uncle 1 mile away from their home (Here is an article about it: http://www.nytimes.com/2002/11/30/nyregion/a-thanksgiving-day-double-killing-stuns-a-rural-connecticut-town.html), she was my favorite Aunt and I still get tears thinking about it, but I have also come to terms that there is nothing I can do to change anything, which is another reason staying happy and enjoying life is important to me, instead of dwelling on bad things we have no control over.

How could I almost forget, we have a 3½ year old black & white cat, named Moolah, that pretty much runs our lives. OK, I probably told you more than you wanted to know, but once I started opening up, it all came pouring out.

I am a Christian , And I am a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and I love sweeping as a hobby. I have enjoyed this hobby for 10 years. No ,I realize that wins cannot be every day or week or even month. But They do come and that is FUN. I found "Sweeping America" on the web. And, I instantly knew that was what I had been searching for. I have had three small wins last month. a $100.00 gift card ,a $50.00 gift card and a hotel stay. Sweeping is the most relaxing rewarding hobby for me and I love it!!! Thank you Judy and God Bless.

I am a retired Corporate Director of Training for a Fortune 500 company. I am an avid bass fisherman. I'm not bored because I am not a boring person!  My wife and I have continued to travel extensively; mostly by cruise ship to the Caribbean and elsewhere in the Pacific. We live happily on a 200 acre farm that we lease out to a farmer in Manning, SC.

I taught HS Spanish for 17 years. In 2000, I married an independent oil producer. (my second marriage) I help him in the oil business and have quit teaching. He works really hard, and I don't work as hard as him. The oil field is a man's job- very physical and a big gamble. I have 2 grown children and no grandchildren. I love traveling especially cruising.

I am retired (age 60) as a bakery/deli manager , and now, am a stay-at-home mom for up to 3 foster kids here in WA (they do consume a lot). I am disabled (HSP). I have 4 children (3 alive) all adults that make me very proud. My dream is that I can make a good impression in the new children in our lives.

I am married to the same wonderful woman for the past 30 years. I am the father of two adult children. I am the University Minister for 25 year of a college in South Carolina. I love sports especially college basketball. I volunteer at our local Food Bank and a residential children's home.

I am a stay at home mom of 2 children. My family recently relocated to Huntsville, AL. Although we are new here, I am very active in the PTA, my children's classrooms, and I try to volunteer anywhere I see a need! Sweepstakes has been woven in the fabric of my life and I consistently chose the products from companies that sponsor sweepstakes over others, I also own small amounts of stock in the sponsor companies I have won from in the past.

I am a 44 year old married mother of 2. I am an Associate Director of a Respite home where parents of mentally/physically disabled adults can bring their family member to stay while they get a break. My family and I love to hike with our Golden Retriever. I honeymooned in Ireland years ago, and have been saving spare change for years so we can go back someday.

I'm a 65 year old office manager for a construction company and I also do taxes during the tax season. I travel, I shop, I casino gamble (yeah, Vegas Baby!) and this week I'm going Ghost Hunting at the Stanley Hotel (The Shining) in Estes Park CO.

I am the writer, director, producer and actor for a small
Christian theatre organization
. I also regularly write plays, programs and skits for about a half dozen other churches and organizations. I am legally deaf.  I have three children - all grown - and I homeschooled all three through to graduation. I own a small business (only 7 employees), Co-Del Construction Company, which is in it's 45th or 50th year (can't remember) but I have personally owned it for almost 25 years. I have my associates degree as a Paralegal.

I live in a small town in NC. I am a Financial Services Officer in a credit union. I love to scrapbook, cross stitch, do embroidery, crochet, sweepstakes and do bible study. My husband was in a bad accident 2 years ago and became disabled. He is able to do most of the housework now, so I get to do more playing on my hobbies. I have a new grandson and 2 daughters.

My wife & I have been married 35 years and have been sweeping since 1984. We raised 3 children, all college graduates, without borrowing a dime. I am now retired after working 32 1/2 years in Civil Service as a Department of the Army Civilian. My wife is working in Civil Service and should retire in 2014. We've lived NJ, GA, VA, and began sweeping while living in rural
communities in rural states (Anniston, Alabama & Rolla, Missouri) due to work locations. We are MLB baseball and college and NFL football fans. We travel in the US usually twice, every year, and for the last 2 years, have travelled to France. We own our home (with a mortgage) with a new washer and drier (spring 2009) have a new car (2009 model, purchased in Nov 08) and an SUV (2004). We are big time readers, and our house is full of books. We have
2 desktop & 1 laptop computers. We are investors and savers as well as consumers.

I'm a 53 year old, only child, who has been raised on "no limits" to what I can do. I have been the Contract Administrator at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum for 19 years now, prior to that I was a Media Buyer at an advertising agency, a secretary/receptionist for a local womens/mens clothing chain and before that I was an auditor for an international labor union. As part time jobs, I was a ticket taker at gate B at Notre Dame during the football season, a worker at McDonalds and a cocktail waitress at the Toledo Express Airport.

I volunteer for Muscular Dystrophy, Cancer Services of Northwest Indiana, and read to the blind for Northeast Indiana Radio Reading Services. I am also an Altar Guild member of my church.

I have lost my father, my stepfather, my fiance who was my true "soul mate," my first husband and one of my best friends all to cancer. I am presently taking care of my 94 year old mother who has lived with me since 2000.

I am a community theatre actress who has been in over 100 plays regionally, winning best actress honors both in Indiana and Ohio in state competitions. I have been in all types of commercials and training films. I was "Sadie the Coupon Lady," an Elvira Lookalike Contest winner and was also in motion pictures with Linda Purl, Charlie Sheen and others.

I am mother to 9 children and grandma to 18. I'm also the host to the 22nd Annual Sweepstakers Convention. Enough said?

I am a wife and mom of two children. I work at the Mayo Clinic as a Study Coordinator and have for 20 years. I enjoy travelling, sewing, stained glass, walking and shopping! I enjoy watching my kids in their sports (swimming, basketball, football & baseball).

I can't talk just a little bit, but Ill try. I am 65 and retired. I like to metal detect, scrapbook, gardening, exercise 6 days a week, and I do stamping up. I have 7 grandkids. I worked at the same place for 42 years before I retired. I tend to talk to strangers everywhere I go. Mom never taught me any different. lol I would rather talk about someone else. Have many wins.

I am 45 years old, married, and we have 3 boys and one daughter-in-law. I have worked for the State of Utah in the District and Juvenile Courts since June 1988 (only 3146 days until retirement). I love to play jokes on people (especially my husband).  I love to cook and entertain people --- I have always been known as the Betty Crocker of the neighborhood. I buy lots of kitchen gadgets (infomercials and QVC). I enjoy having friends and family stay in my home.  I live in the best neighborhood and have the most wonderful neighbors. I can't relax if my house isn't clean.  I love baseball. For the past 3 years, we have been a host family for a professional baseball team, St. George RoadRunners, which is part of the Golden Baseball League. We have welcomed young men into our home (early to mid 20's) for 4 months each year. I have "sons" all over --- Bahamas, Dominican Republic, California, Oregon, and Missouri, just to name a few.
My youngest son (age 11) thinks it is cool his mom knows more about sports than his dad does!!!

I'm a 47 year old lady who got married at the age of 19. I have a son who is 24 & a daughter who is 22. I am a Customer Service Agent for FedEx Express and have worked for them from December 1987 to March 2002. Then started working for them again in Nov. 1995. I have been a courier for them also, but enjoy the Customer Service Agent job more. I have taken some college classes but have never gotten a college degree. My hobby for some 15 years was doing Genealogy. I am related to Kirsty Alley as her and my
GGGGGreat Grandfather' were brothers. I was born and raised in Kansas until the age of 15 when my parents moved us to Alaska. I went to High School with my hubby, but I didn't know him at that time. We met after I graduated and we married on the following 4th of July. I like to play poker online and in areas where they play free poker. The dark winter nights (especially after the day-light savings time change) keep me inside the house. I go to work with some daylight, however when I get off work at 6 pm it is totally
dark. I used to do yoga at the Alaska Club, until we stopped paying $140.00 a month to go there. My social life is pretty much my work and the internet. So, yep I live a boring life .... that's why my new hobby helps keep me going.

I am a single, gay, 55 yr old banker (been one for 33 yrs and love it-work for Bank of America ) My other passion besides sweeping is animals, especially dogs. Currently have a 13 yr old cocker spaniel I rescued from the local shelter about a year ago.

I haven't work in 9 years and I enjoy staying home with the dog. I am a huge movie fan and have hundreds in my DVD collection. I run three computers and enjoy playing games and entering sweepstakes. My husband, Fred, and I recently went on a road trip to Virginia to see a bunch of family members. My brother, sadly, was in rehab. It was very upsetting to see him in such a frail state. He lost his job, home and his wife left him after 27 years. There was other sad drama but also it was so nice to see my dad, father-in-law, mother-in-law and sister. My dad and his wife are coming here on Monday to spend a few days with all of us. Dad is very excited to come and see his two grand daughters as well. It's been a couple of years. The weather is perfect as long as IDA stays away.

I am a 44 year old mother of two boys. I work full time for the PA Supreme Court. My boys are very active. My oldest works, goes to school and plays in a band. My youngest is in school and races go karts. Our weekends are spent at either a race track or a concert event. I have been with my DH for 16 years. We love Nascar, Harley rides and doing things with our boys. We love the outdoors. We also have a dog named Sugar that is a collie/beagle mix. She is two.

I am a 31 year old female who works in a school district in Long Island, NY. My interests include movies, skiing, sky diving, traveling, the NY Yankees and poker.

My first nine years of sweeping were while I was working full time, 7 as a teacher. It's no walk in the park but sure beats working with "adults." At least kids act their age! I didn't renew my last contract so I could drive my child to and from school. For the record, my life isn't/will never be boring. I couldn't be bored if I tried. I've just gotten into the mail ins because I've just always wanted try them. Hasn't been a year yet. I've won
a few things but haven't recouped my postage yet.
I have been to new web sites and bought items from sponsors I never would have, were it not for sweeping. Sponsors I can think of right now:  TigerDirect, Newegg, APC, Disney Store, Overstock, Sierra Trading Post, Bargain Outfitters, Kohls, Kraft, Apple, Dell, Amazon, Coldwater Creek, Staples, Office Max, Publix, McDonald's, BK, KFC, Chilis, Taco Bell, Motorola, and that's all that come to mind in a minute or two.

Maybe we could compile a list and get it published in Promotions, or you could present it at the convention-wish I could go. I bet you'd get a list numbering in the thousands.  They'd know I was a consumer if they ever collected my garbage! How do we make SO MUCH. Not by being bored.

I am always wondering who I am so this is a challenge to sit and write this. I am a mom of a 22yr old son still in college and a 26 yr old daughter making her way in Austin Texas.(the animator!) I love to volunteer. My husband and I are DFW airport ambassadors and certified tourism ambassadors. We volunteer at many community events, the airport, and Film Festivals. I am working part time at The New Cowboys Stadium selling tickets. It is close to where I live in Arlington, Texas. I am a frugal shopper(always using coupons), magic enthusiast, Production assistant/2nd 2nd AD and sometime extra on movie and TV shoots.
My life keeps me busy!

I am 44 years old, single, no children, white female. I have a doctor of pharmacy degree and I work full time as a pharmacist on staff at a 400 bed hospital. I love entering sweepstakes, I wish I had more time to do it. It's fun and exciting when I win things. I have plenty of expendable income and will admit to buying things just so I can enter a sweepstakes. So, yes, we sweepers are consumers too!!
Keep up the good work. I look forward to getting my newsletter every week. Thanks!

I am a grandmother of nine (Yes, I spoil them as a consumer) I love music, love to read, am an avid gardener, and housewife with many friends. I am retired but not tired. I do spend time on sweeps, but it is not my whole life. Conrad IA

I am a 58 year old female. I lost my first husband in 2001 and remarried in 2003. We each have two children from our first marriages (his wife also died). Between us we have four grandchildren. I am an LPN but am home at present due to a knee injury. My husband retired from his main job (chemist) but works part time at Lowe's.

I was born in 1940, finished high school in 1958 and married my boyfriend of three years one week after graduating. He is 3 years older and was in the Navy at the time. I started as a bookkeeper at a local farmers co-op and we started our family 2 years after he got out of the service. We have 3 grown children and 9 grandchildren ages 6 to 28. Of course, many of the prizes I win go to these kids.

I retired just one month ago from a bookkeeping job at a small grocery store. I have worked all these years as a bookkeeper, except for about 2 years, 1991 and 1992. I had 2 heart attacks and colon cancer during that time, successful surgery (5 bypass) for the heart and also for the cancer. Did I mention that I am also diabetic since 1984? I am soon to become 70, and also hope that this next year will bring a great-grandchild.

I want to share with you that my Mom and my husbands Mom worked together for about 5 years before we met each other. They were very good friends before becoming mother-in-laws together. They both died within a half hour of each other in the same hospital that they both had worked at. That is what happens in a small town of about 9000 people.

I am a knitter, having shared countless hats, mittens, sweaters, socks and scarves with family and friends. I would rather knit than dust, so my house is not always in the best of condition, but no one is ever has cold ears or toes or fingers.  I love to read and go rummage saleing. I collect pottery, Shawnee salt and peppers, Homer Laughlin China, and Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls.
My husband like to do woodworking and has built me many wonderful pieces, including a pottery bench, corner china cabinet, 4 bookcases, benches, chairs, shelves, bird and squirrel feeders, etc.

I started sweeping about 27 years ago, but that is only one of my hobbies, and a small part of my life. I still meet about 10 former co-workers for lunch every month, have a cousin reunion twice a year (all of the older generation are gone on before us now) sing in my church choir, do a lot of special music as part of a trio with my daughter and granddaughter, enjoy a trip about once a month to our local Indian Casino, ----- I could go on and on, but don’t want to bore you.  Life is a little quieter now that I am no longer part of the workforce, but the time I have fills up so fast I can never get everything done! Can we add about 4 more hours to every day?
GrandmaBill in Wisconsin

I am a 70 year old woman who takes care of a husband (80), 3 dogs, 2 cats and a large house with 10 acres including garden and orchard.  Sweepstaking is my hobby I can take with me on airplanes, vacations and visits.  I have won enough to keep doing it and have reached the point that I have gotten picky in what I enter.  (Sure saves on the stamps.)  I love the conventions and our local club meetings but don't get to everyone.  My grandchildren (15) and our kids (6) have appreciated my wins as they often receive them as gifts at Christmas or birthdays.  You are probably wondering with this how I ever get time to enter but I do.   I confess that I am doing more online than mail in because they are so fast.  But my two big wins this year were by snail mail.

Hi there, I am a mother, wife, grandmother, greatgrandmother, professional watercolor artist, and down underneath I am myself! My degree is in pharmacy, but for 40 years I have been
selling my watercolors. www.joangrout.com My father won a contest to Hawaii for a barbecue competition I believe it was and I started reading his contest magazine. Entered one. Won a
transistor radio...I was hooked. Started with recipe contests, then statements but then everything became sweeps, so I followed. I see a swing back to "creatives" now. Important: I never did it to get rich...it has always been a game I liked to play.....glad to see your picture on the site.

I am a retired air traffic controller of 33 years.  I am currently a basketball ref, and a baseball/softball umpire.  I also collect stamps.

I am a Blessed Stay at home mom to 3 wonderful children and I am lucky enough to be married to my best friend for over 8 years. I love to set up 'tents' in our living room and kick back on the big couch with all my kids and hubby and watch movies with lots of popcorn.

My life is very busy and satisfying, but I still find time and greatly enjoy a lot of sweepstaking. Madison, Wisconsin

After working for 41 years in the business world, I retired to spend my time the way **I** wanted.  I do volunteer work for a Cocker Spaniel rescue group.  I am owned by two beautiful Cocker ladies.   Our group has online auctions thru the year and since I love to crochet I make up afghans to order for the auctions.  I also make a small blanket and give that and a new toy to each dog who gets placed in a new home.  These dogs are strays or "throwaway" dogs and I want them to have something of their very own..  I also do counted cross stitch and gardening.

I was born in SC, but currently live in southern California after moving all over the country (14 moves in 14 years) while my husband was in the Navy. I am also a 6-year (and counting) breast cancer survivor, who is healthier now than I was before cancer, thanks to losing over 100 pounds in the past 6 years and practically LIVING at the gym!

Hi. I'm 51 years old and currently live in Chippewa Falls, WI, a city of about 13,000. I have been a legal assistant for over 30 years and now work about 30 hours a week. My husband and I are avid Minnesota Vikings fans & we try to make it to most of their home games in Minneapolis. We have 2 daughters. One lives only 15 miles away & one is just finishing up an assignment with the Peace Corps.

Sweepstaking is a large part of my life...not by choice.  My favorite things are genealogy, amateur radio, and the smell of fresh potting soil.  My pet is name Password so I won't forget her name.  The love of my life is my 43 year partner, Judy.

I am 55 and have been married to the same man for 37 years. Had two children who are both professionals. One is a Dr. and the other a teacher with her master's. Don't know who they got their smarts from!!!  Also have two grandaughters whom I love to spoil. They live close so we enjoying watching them do their activities. My husband recently retired form the U.S. Postal Service after 37 years. I am still working in the same local medical clinic and have been there 24 years.
Besides entering sweeps, I also enjoy doing crafts, sewing, fishing, and am in a bowling league. Of course some of those activities I don't get to do much as there is not enough time. I cook a lot, mainly out of necessity, I don't love it but don't hate it either. So from all of these things, I think I qualify as a consumer.
I was the youngest of four children. I have not moved very far from my roots and am glad because I love it out here in the country. I looked after my mom until she died a couple of years ago. She had Alzheimer's and during the 10 years of her disease before her death was bittersweet. I loved her dearly but it was a very stressful time for me. I can look back now and realize those years help build my character but boy was it hard. Her life ended with a massive stroke but in all those years of her Alzheimer's, she never forgot who I was. That was such a blessing.
Most importantly, I am a Christian and love my Lord and look forward to seeing him someday, So if I never win another prize, or if our government spends all our money, and ruins my health insurance or no matter what happens, I will be the grand prize winner in the end along with my fellow believers. Hope to see you there!!! (In heaven of course)

I am retired, married to a very active man (who gets me going) have a summer home on the Ohio river, plant a garden, eat out frequently, grocery shop once or twice a week , love bargains, have 4 grandchildren, my parents are still alive 86 and 92 and very active. Making my granddaughter a quilt, read and belong to a book club. Play cards with my friends some from grade school. I have a lot of fun being retired what I enjoy most is just rolling over in the morning and going back to sleep. I enjoy family and friends very much.

I work at Atlantic Heating in Brookline, MA (right next to Boston) as an AP clerk. I'm 28 y.o. and going to Full Sail University full time majoring in Entertainment Business. I am an avid movie watcher and huge thrower of parties every month with my roommate!

I am a 66 year old granny of five and a recently retired high school substitute teacher/ tutor of home-bound students who are too ill to attend school. I am a hospice volunteer and caretaker of my 82 year old husband, who has multiple health problems. We are both library volunteers, in spite of his fragile health. I am an avid internet shopper for those precious grandkids, since they live in other states. I love entering sweepstakes and clipping coupons to save money! I believe life is a happy journey with many magical detours.

I am a 36 year old wife, mother and dog lover. I live in Austin TX. I worked
as a very successful hairstylist in an affluent town for 15 years. I married
my husband 10 years ago after meeting him skydiving. He was a skydiving
instructor and I was a competitive skydiver, this hobby took up all our free
time. I quit my job to stay home with my children -Ava- 2 yr. & Camilla -
4 mo. old. We moved and sold our airplane to allow us to afford me not
working. I have 2 beautiful
Labradors - Orion and Pyxie. I have a
wonderful life and like to keep busy -but my old hobbies are not so
practical now that I am a mother. I have been sweeping for almost 1 year.
I also enjoy scrapbooking, reading, Jazzercise, cooking, bringing my dogs
swimming and spending time with my family. I saw the sweepstakes for
McCann's Irish oatmeal last week and thought it sounded so tasty that I
immediately got on Amazon to order a case.

I am a 58 year old female. I had a 32 year career in Aviation. I have held
positions as an aircraft dispatcher, and manager of stations.
I am a licensed pilot as well. I enjoyed my career and the people I met.
I retired 8 years ago to
Florida, and love it.
I keep myself busy with Mah Jongg, bridge, volunteering and sweepstaking.
What a great life.

Just wanted to let you know a little about myself.....I had gone to get my haircut and my hair stylist asked me to mail a bunch of decorated envelopes for her on my many trips (I worked for a major airline and was either always traveling or working at different airports).....While on a trip, I saw another attendent writing out 3/5 cards and asked what she was doing.....she explained what she was doing and what she had won...I WAS HOOKED!!!!!

My first win was 3 bicycles from Coors Beer...each of my children and myself received one valued at over $500 each.....I must tell you that at that time Coors was only available west of the Mississippi...I lived in Indiana and had a friend whose family owned a trucking firm called Navajo and when they were coming towards the East, my friend had them stop in the Denver area, picked us up a couple of cases and that is how we got our Coors and that is how I found the entry form to enter......

Since then it has been all uphill...I was looking for UPC codes (has a small recorder that I carry with me) and was talking into it when someone tapped me on my shoulder and asked what I was doing...explained it and the gentlemen started laughing...he was the store detective....he is now an avid sweeper....if I purchase something to enter a sweeps (food) and it is something that we won't eat or need our local food bank is the recepient of it...It is a two way  win both for myself and the food bank....

This wonderful hobby has not only enriched my life, but those of my family....I won a backyard makeover for my son and daughter-in-law from one entry in a drop in box for the ugliest lawn in the desert (it was worth $10,000 and the taxes were paid by a major grocery chain)....over the years I have won a computer, car, many cash awards, many trips, refrigerators, 3 freezers (drop in box at local grocery chain)....I was walking thru an Albertson's store, looking for fruit, and noticed an entry for Ready Pack Fruit which was a new promotion for them ( I had always seen their lettace products...)the sponsor was Ready Pack and Chiquitta Bananas....I found a post card with three scoops of ice cream with a banana under it and three fruit toppings on the ice cream...this won me $5000 worth of Albertsons gift cards (the sponsor told me exactly what card had one...) they were excited that I had taken the time to enter something with the subject on it...

I have won gift cards to groceries who were not in the area where I lived or now live...these have all be donated to First Harvest or a local Food Bank in the area where the grocery exists...(this was before I realized that you don't have to enter for things you could not possibly use, want or need) just to win is no longer something I wish to do....example...I would not enter  to win a fishing or hunting trip as I would do neither...let someone who would love to have this enter...

As for being a consummer, I think most of us are: even thou I have flight privledges on the airline I work for,I won a wonderful trip from another airline and when I can' fly on the airline I worked for, I use them ...after all,  I had a wonderful time at their expense and find it fair to use them if they are competable.....

I am not particularly fond of a major chain, however, with their gift cards that I have won, we now own 3 TV's, 2 computers, and my children each have a new laptop...they are a Royal Pain in the Butt (had a problem with their warrenty not being honored for which I had paid for this myself) however, I am a consummer and will not say anything bad, but will use thier gift cards to my advantage)...I will buy a video or something for them just to show that I do use their store....there are many ways to re-pay their generosity without being obnoxtious about it....you have the right to complain, but don't bite the hand that gives you something you might not otherwise have...

I must say this has been one of the best years I have had in sweeping. .... I have won over $30,000 including 4 trips, 2 computers, 2 TV's , cash ($10.000 from Canon Pixma) of which I paid for a condo that we rented for two months in Carlsbad, California this summer (the heat in Arizona in the summer is unbearable) so we head to the beach...this year at Cannon's expense.....

I felt that last year was great as I had won a car from a trade magazine sweeps and I always felt there was more around the corner....

I am a very positive person and even if I don't get it this year, I will next....I do keep very extensive records, expecially for tax reasons... I don't, however, keep all the back issues of the newsletter...once it has ended the paper goes into recycle....if I am destended to win, I will, if not, on to the next....life is to short to worry about WHAT IF......

I do belong to a sweepstaking club who does help each other out ...especially with the radio sweeps....I have only won a couple of times in all the years from radio call ins, however, a lot of people do...it is just not for me....I prefer snail mail and will enter online when I have time....have won from this way  also, but not as much as snail mail...I seem to have better luck with nationals then I do locals....who know why, I don't....Make this a hobbly instead of job and you will enjoy whatever you get...some are awful, some are good, and some are great...ENJOY

am 57 years old, divorced for many years, with 2 grown sons and one 7 year old granddaughter.
I am a paralegal by trade and a Notary Public for my state.  My hobbies are all kinds of crafting and of course sweepstaking.  I made a business out of spreading the word of sweepstaking.  I am the editor of a monthly club newsletter (talking about sweeps wins, etrc. - not giving the actual sweeps - that's a job kept for Judy), I have a sweepstakes supply business, and I've been running a mini sweepstakes convention for the past couple of years.  They all keep me pretty busy.
I love the fact that I can help companies spread the word of their products as I boast about the different prizes that I have won from them over the 45 years I've been entering sweepstakes.  Some of the things I've won would have been very, very low on the list of affordability over the years.
I love my sweeping newsletters and look forward to seeing what is new out there every day!!

I'm a 35 year old mom to 3 kids...4 if you include my husband. We have a
daughter who is 10, another daughter who is 3, and a son who is 1. I've
been married for 2 years, but my husband and I have been together this time
around for 5 years. I say this time around because we met when we were 12
in the 7th grade. We dated off and on through 7th-11th grades, reconnected
after high school for a couple years...and then finally called it quits. We
got back together after a 10 year split and have been together ever since.
I am now a stay at home mom after having our son, but I was running an
Ophthalmology office for 10 years. So, now my time is occupied with the
"double trouble team" (our 3 & 1 year olds) and our 10 year old. My husband
drag races motorcycles for fun and just bought a new drag bike in the last
few months. He was working in
Las Vegas as an electrician, but was laid off
in September...so we are waiting for work to pick up again.
I do sweeps online and obviously by snail mail as well. I use coupons as
much as possible...but they have to be sent to me by my parents because our
local paper doesn't put coupons in the paper (once in a blue moon). I also
print coupons out from the manufacture websites, plus a few other places
that I can print them from.
We have relocated just over a year ago from the beautiful state of
Oregon...to the now beautiful (just in a different way) desert of Arizona.
Do I miss
Oregon? Yep...I miss the grass, but I miss the rain the most. We
get rain here...but our big "rain storms" are either flash floods or
sprinkles of rain. If it's not thunder/lighting outside, you will find me
standing out in the rain. One "rain storm" we had there was 6 rain
drops...just 6. I was dry before I came back in the house.

Russ and I have been married for 64 years and we work on our sweepstakes together.

I am a single lady, taking care of an ailing father with cancer, and working full time. I am a CPA and have a PHD in Finance.
Sweepstaking is my hobby. I do it as often as time will allow. I love dreaming about the possibilities.

This born and bred Brit, moved across the pond a few years ago and is still discovering the weird, whacky and wonderful U.S.A. Promoters can tempt me with a vast array of goods and services because so many things are still new, and often, very unusual to me, but pair it with music (and beer) in some way and you've probably got me hooked! Music plays a huge part in my life, I've always got my iPod hooked up or the radio on and next month hubby and myself are off to four concerts in four nights - that's a record for us ;o)

I am a business owner, a parent and a grandmother!!

54 years old- wife, mother of 4 sons age 30,28,24 and 18. Grandmother of 2
granddaughters 9 and 4. And another on the way. Bachelor of Science degree in nursing- Registered Nurse in Labor & Delivery-stopped working when sons were age 15 down to 2. Love reading, computers, movies, decorating, eating out and fashion. Three time breast cancer survivor, took care of dying sister with cancer and helped son and his family who served 3 tours in
Iraq and another son hospitalized while in college. All of my sons went to top 50
universities. Very successful -one an analyst for Fortune 500 company who is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, another a Financial advisor who interned on
London's Wall Street and another works in Advertising on the Magnificent Mile in Chicago. Husband is a Finance Director. We are not bored housewives.  How insulting. I once went to a bible study called Bible Study Fellowship
where people called us a "bunch of rich women with nothing better to do" Not true. We chose to follow the Lord. I choose to do sweepstaking. God has blessed me. I work at this like I worked at my job or at raising my kids and win hundreds of prizes a year.

**I'm a 46 year old wife and mom. I have three kids, 16, 15 and 12. All are very active in extra curricular activities, and all headed to college. (Florida "Pre-Paid College Plan" progam already fully paid for.) My husband and I have been married for 18 wonderful years. He is an Engineer with a major defense contractor.

I'm a part-time hairstylist. That is by choice. I have a four year degree and could have chosen another career path, but I love interacting my customers on a daily basis and would get bored staying home alone all day.

Our family LOVES to spend time together and we are BIG vacation people. We take an average of two cruises a year with our children. We also go to Disney World and SeaWorld quite often for weekends. We are HUGE sports fans (my daughter is a high school cheerleader and my oldest son plays high school football). We LOVE the NFL and usually get to a couple of games each year. (We also subscribe to NFL Sunday Ticket on DirecTV.) My husband and boys are into NASCAR and he takes them to a few races a year, too. We
live in a very nice, new "master-planned community" and we have, what we call "beer-in-the-cul-de-sac" every weekend with our neighbors.

I've been entering sweepstakes for almost 20 years! My first "win" came when I had written my name and address on a coupon I used at the grocery store. A few weeks later, I received a letter from Dial that I won a free deodorant! I was surprised, but kept entering sweepstakes after I knew sponsors actually DID give things away! (And yes, I still am an avid coupon user! I have teenagers to feed!)

My favorite prize ever was a trip for four to the SUPER BOWL! I was offered $10,000 for all four tickets by scalpers and turned them down without even thinking for a second! It had always been my dream to go to the Super Bowl, but with three children, I would never be able to justify the price to be able to purchase tickets myself! God willing, I will always have money for the things I need. But going to that game was a once in a lifetime,
"Priceless" experience that I will cherish forever!!
